ROY — The Roy and Ogden police departments are searching for three suspects allegedly involved in a “gang-related” shooting that occurred in Roy around 1:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 12.
Roy Police Sgt. Matthew Gwynn said dispatchers received several calls about multiple shots fired at a home near the 5000 South block of 2800 West. No injuries were reported.
“We received reports of a vehicle leaving the area — a silver SUV,” Gwynn said. “An officer located that vehicle while en route to the scene and attempted to stop the vehicle, and the vehicle fled. The officer was unable to maintain sight of the vehicle, and when he lost the vehicle, he terminated the pursuit.”
The department then issued an attempt to locate notification with the vehicle’s description. Roy Police also asked Ogden Police Department officers to respond to the vehicle owner’s address.
“I don’t know where they found the vehicle, but they found the vehicle and someone ran from them on foot,” Gwynn said. “We have a person we believe is the suspect, but we haven’t positively identified anybody yet.”
Gwynn said police are unsure who the other two suspects are at this time.
“Our witnesses are being uncooperative,” Gwynn said. “They are afraid of retaliation.”
While investigating, Roy officers found 22 casings of 9 mm bullets at the home where the shooting occurred.
Gwynn said the investigation is ongoing.
